T O P I C R E V I E WAlumtubeGoing to restore a 1/8 ERTS satellite model that has some missing pieces and was further damaged during shipping. Nice model, even has its original carrying case.Just wondering if anyone has a blueprint or the like of the real satellite so I can figure out and make the missing pieces.Before/after shipping: Retro RocketI had bought one of those on eBay, the same model without case and it arrived broken. Unfortunately there's a lot of parts that broke that would have been real time consuming to replace, so I returned the model. But it's a shame they are so fragile, hope you can restore it. Last year there was a huge model of this with moving parts.(Neat Orion model!)GACspaceguyI am so sorry that has happened to you. I have had the same experience myself as people think a carrying case can be a shipping case. I have never seen one of these even in all our museum travels. My only suggestion is see if the seller has any good pictures of the before that may start your quest.AlumtubeI have a smaller Nimbus model as well. (ERTS was based on it.) This one is much larger (about 20" tall) with some paperwork, aerial pictures, etc., the case has some NASA stickers on it as well. It ended being an insurance claim so no money invested. I like to restore old models and this should be a fairly easy project as soon as I can find more details. Have seen some photos online but there seems to be a large variation of components on them. Also, the model might not have been totally accurate either. quote:Originally posted by Retro Rocket:(Neat Orion model!) Happy I found it. AlumtubeRestored to pre-crash/FedEx condition as I am still looking for more info.
